Jana & The Lanterns
JANA is a Slovak-raised singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist based in London. Her music takes you into a world of self-reflection, contemplating loss and gain, roaming and searching for home and fascination with the unknown. ‘Well-traveled’ folk of Paul Simon with the intimacy of Tracey Chapman (Folk & Honey), all tied together with her pure vocals attract comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter. Her EP ‘Lanterns’ is out now.

Tantz
Bringing their own brand of Electro-Klezmer to the world music stage, Tantz deliver a hard-hitting blend of Eastern European melodies and broken beats.
Named after the age-old Yiddish adage “Freilich! Tantz yer pants off!” Tantz mix power-klezmer with Dub, Hip-hop and Balkan beats hitting ludicrous speeds. In 2013 they released they're second EP entitled 'Etrog Pomander' and have made a mark on the UK festival scene playing at Knockengorroch, Kendal Calling, Rhythm Tree, Balkanarama, Balkanic Eruption and Bestival. 'Tantz are a remarkable collective of talented equals making the most of traditional material in a truly modern way and by the end of their set they’d earned a serious dance response from a happy and sweaty canteen crowd.' / Tony Benjamin, Venue Magazine. '4 tracks of klezmer crossover with eastern influences and a nod to the dance floor…this is fantastically played and written stuff!!!' / Jumbo Records review of Tantz’s newest EP: ‘Etrog Pomander’ ‘Yes, it's Electro-Klezmer, the sound you've been waiting for! You think we're joking? All the way from Leeds, Tantz understand the undoubted subtleties of Eastern European rhythm, but beef [horse?] them up with bastard big bass, whilst retaining its integrity so they can still look you in the eye in the morning.’ / The Riverside, Sheffield. |
